Kenny Greene
Kenny Greene was born on January 17th, 1969.
He listed in the army at 18 years old and was son playing the piano and performing in military talent shows.
While in the army, he met Clinton “Buddy” Mike and Nelson Brown. The trio formed a group, Intro (Innovative New Talent Reaching Out).
DJ Eddie F and Heavy D discovered the group in 1990.
Kenny and Clinton asked to be discharged from the military while Nelson stayed and was replaced by Jeff Sanders. The group signed with Untouchables Entertainment / Atlantic Records in 1992.
Kenny was the lead singer and wrote and produced most of the group’s songs. He also wrote 3 songs on Mary J. Blige’s What’s the 411? album; “Reminisce,” “My Love, and “Love No Limit.”
He also worked with Will Smith, 98 Degreez, Cam’ron, and Tyrese.
In 1993, he tied with Dave Jam Hall, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for ASCAP’s Songwriter of the Year award.
His last musical contributions were the background vocals on Tyrese’s song, “For Always,” from his 2000 Watts album.
A few months before his death, he revealed in an interview with Sister 2 Sister magazine that he was bisexual and suffering from AIDS.
Kenny Greene died on October 1st, 2001 from AIDS-related complications. He was 32 years old.
